BE HEALTHIER

Research world over indicates that marriage keeps people healthier. Spouse gives company and reduces stress and gives you good sleep. Man is made to live in a community and his physical health depends on the health of his relationships. So cultivating and investing on your relationships has to be priority number one.

To have good relations at home you have to stay with your family rather than your family staying with you. Treat dinner as a communal event, not a timed one. Some use praying together a family event. Your health has to be your priority now. Anything you do regularly for 21 days becomes your habit and then on it becomes an easy routine.

Plan the activities you want as your habits. Try one one every month and your good habits start giving you result - peaceful and healthier life.
Healthier people age gracefully.

BEAUTY OF LIFE

The beauty of life lies in healthy human relationships.

Throughout our lives, we are involved with many different kinds of relationships. We have friendships, romances, work and school-related connections, familial ties, and, quite often, relationships which cannot be categorized.

A healthy relationship springs from trust and mutual respect. We feel secure and enjoy the time together. This should enrich other relationships as well. If I have a good friend, automatically he is introduced to my other friends and everybody around us enjoys the fruits of our relationship.

If everybody around us enjoys our relationships, it is a good relationship.

Developing good relationships is the key to a healthy lifestyle.

RIDING ON EMOTIONS.

There are a lot of things in life that take a lot of time to build, to understand and rebuild like friendship. Beauty is not in the face, beauty is a light in the heart and its glow is on the face. Without friendship life is not life at all. The beauty of life lays in relationships.

There are many lessons in life that only time can teach me. How much is my love for you? It is immposible to know until I am forced to spend my days without you. The beatings of my heart tell me the deapth of my love. Emotions nearly choke me. Emotions are the waves I enjoy riding on. Emotions are the flowers on my relationships. More the flowers more the life worth living. Here even death cannot stop the flowering. You will live in my heart. I see flowers all around me every time I think of you.

How to dance in the Rain

How to Dance in the Rain

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

My friend Chitra send me this note.

'It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.
As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.
I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?' He smiled as he patted my hand and said,
'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'
I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought,'That is the kind of love I want in my life.' True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

I hope you share this with someone you care about. I just did.

'Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.'

AM I BLIND?

My friend Chitra sent me this mail:

"A blind girl hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.' One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her, 'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him. Her boyfriend left her in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, before they were yours, they were mine. '

RELATIONSHIPS

THE DNA OF HAPPINESS
I have often wondered why do some people behave the way they do. Putting myself into others’ shoes doesn’t give me the answer. I try to visualize what I would have done had I been in his place. That is the best I can go. But that is not the reality. He is a different person, entirely different from me. So I have to speculate. For that I have to understand the other person with his background. In short the entire input into his brain and the basis of his nature. That is difficult. How can I get into his mind, the most complicated part. How can I understand then?

Our educational system frames the questions and teaches us the answers. So when I get the answer it is final and I move on. The same habit is reflected in my social thinking as well. I look for an answer for everything. I automatically stop thinking as soon as I come across the first possibility and treat it as final. Of course I vehemently protect my knowledge by arguing with him or with anyone and everyone. My ego justifies my answer and even refuses to accept any diversion. The real life is however very different from what is taught in schools. There is usually more than one answer. Some answers are much better than others. My first answer need not be the best one. If I can look for a better answer for others’ behaviour from themselves I create relationships, the DNA structure of human happiness

RELATIONSHIPS - DUMP OR NURTURE???

WHOM TO KEEP WHOM TO DUMP
IN RELATIONSHIPS - A DIFFICULT QUESTION

Relationships make life worth living. Wellbeing depends on the quality of relationships. A longing to see, to be nearer, to talk to and to be with, a bliss in each others company, happens with lovers. True, but other relationships are also important.. I have my family members, relatives and neighbours. I have friends around me. I have to decide which one to keep, discard or be nourished. This is a very important decision for a healthy life. Relationships have to be nurtured to keep them beautiful and satisfying.

Some relationships are burdens. Some can test my patience and drag me to boredom or depression. People take advantage of my tolerance. I may characterize it as being charitable. But it is too taxing on my nerves. After talking to them or listening to them for a considerable time my mood dips. It is a drain on my energy and hence I have to select.

To select I have to grade. How do I rate relationships? There is a simple method I call
‘talking time’
How long do I enjoy talking with a person .There are people I can talk to for five minutes, or may be ten or even can tolerate up to fifteen. But there are people I can talk to for hours. I treat half an hour and above as very good. Those relations are to be cared for and nurtured. My mental health comes from those relationships and their memories. Discard relationships or if not possible keep sufficient distance where talking to is not enjoyable.

RELATIONSHIP

GATEWAY TO THE BEAUTIFUL HEARTS

The beauty of life lies in relationships. It comes from understanding each other. This means they are what they are. Can I change them to my liking? That is were I failed miserably. I thought I knew how everybody should behave. I went after everybody to change them or in my own words, 'to educate them'.

But nobody changed. They still remain what they are. In the process I became miserable. Everybody started avoiding me. In reality what I did was declaring everybody wrong. That hurt their ego. They defended and stood by what they did. Some went a step further and used ‘attack as the best defense’.

I realized nobody changes. They are what they are. Then what? I tried to comprehend. I had to find some areas of mutual respect. That was difficult after the ‘Kurushetra’. But I had no other alternative. I was looked at with suspicion. But I persisted. Tried to find out why they behaved like that. I did not know their background, experience and the rules their life taught them. May be had I been through their life, I would have behaved exactly the way they did. That changed everything. I found the gateway to the beautiful hearts of others

ENJOYING LIFE THRoUGH RELATIONSHIPS,
RAINBOW IN YOUR HAND

One alone is nothing , at least two to make a world. We have to be part of a world to live. Relationships maintain our world. The magic of relationship is that it shows the beauty of life. Through relationships we enjoy our life to the fullest.

It certainly feels great to know that you are being liked, loved. When you find that you are needed by somebody you understand your worth. You are worth the relationships you can generate. Relationships are prisms. If kept at the correct angle, rainbows are the result. If you want to enjoy the colours of life you have to maintain good relationships.
